Video: Specialist Strength & Conditioning Course Introduction (2 min)

Module 1 Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand the the principles of utilizing a systematic model for program design
  2. Be able to identify systematic model variations useful in different contexts
  3. Understand the different ways to classify strength
  4. Understand UFCPI tier 1 and tier 2 testing

Module 2 Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand the reverse engineering concept in a combat sports context
  2. Be able to reverse engineer physical and physiological requirements, based on movement and competition demands for:
    1. strength
    2. power
    3. speed

Module 3 Learning Outcomes:

  1. Be able to conduct a needs analysis for energy system development in combat sports
  2. Describe the differences between ESD and conditioning
  3. Identify appropriate tests and prescribe training for:
    1. Aerobic energy systems
    2. Glycolytic energy systems
    3. Alactic energy systems

Module 4 Learning Objectives:

  1. Apply systematic models and evidenced based training methods to real-world scenarios
  2. Identify key considerations for concurrent technical and non-technical training periodization

Module 5: Interdisciplinary Teamwork

  1. Understand how to act as an interdisciplinary team to promote performance enhancement with individual athletes.
  2. Understand how to develop effective interdisciplinary solutions in a group/team-based setting.
