OUTLINE OF SPECIALIST STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COURSE MODULES
Video: Specialist Strength & Conditioning Course Introduction (2 min)
Module 1 Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the the principles of utilizing a systematic model for program design
- Be able to identify systematic model variations useful in different contexts
- Understand the different ways to classify strength
- Understand UFCPI tier 1 and tier 2 testing
Module 2 Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the reverse engineering concept in a combat sports context
- Be able to reverse engineer physical and physiological requirements, based on movement and competition demands for:
- strength
- power
- speed
Module 3 Learning Outcomes:
- Be able to conduct a needs analysis for energy system development in combat sports
- Describe the differences between ESD and conditioning
- Identify appropriate tests and prescribe training for:
- Aerobic energy systems
- Glycolytic energy systems
- Alactic energy systems
Module 4 Learning Objectives:
- Apply systematic models and evidenced based training methods to real-world scenarios
- Identify key considerations for concurrent technical and non-technical training periodization
Module 5: Interdisciplinary Teamwork
- Understand how to act as an interdisciplinary team to promote performance enhancement with individual athletes.
- Understand how to develop effective interdisciplinary solutions in a group/team-based setting.
