General Training and Fight Camp
Previously we covered some high-level principles, and basic concepts relevant to nutrition and combat sports. In the next two modules we take a more detailed look at some of these concepts, and how to apply nutritional and exercise physiology to combat sports specific issues. In this module we will look at the chronic/ longer term training considerations, and in module 3 we will focus on acute/ competition considerations.
Here, we will start with a discussion on body composition optimization, and how to select an appropriate weight division for an athlete. After this we will look at nutrition programming during the general training phase, and when chronic weight/fat loss is required. We will also outline specific considerations regarding supplements and hydration in combat sports.
