Video: Intermediate Sports Medicine: Module 1 Intro (1 min)

Introduction

This first module will discuss who and what a sports medicine team is and touch on the UFCPI’s approach to basic injury assessment and management. This is foundational knowledge and is, in part, a review of the UFCPI Level 1 – Sports Medicine Certification – which will be expanded upon in the later modules of this certification. A solid grasp of the module 1 concepts is crucial before moving on to the latter modules, as the application of these principles is discussed. As such, it is expected at the injury definition, assessment in both emergency and clinical situations, acute management strategies, and rehabilitation. We will cover this information across five topics:

  • Sports medicine basics
